LAST weekend saw 22 members of Stafford Harriers take on over 36,000 other runners in front of record crowds in Spring sunshine to compete in and complete the 34th London Marathon.

Rubbing shoulders with elite runners, celebrities and the masses of club and charity runners they made their way from Greenwich to the finish in the Mall and each one achieved their own personal goal to cross the line

While Wilson Kipsang (Kenya) won the men's event, shaving 11 seconds off the previous record to come home in 2:04.29, fellow compatriot Edna Kiplagat won the ladies' race in a sprint finish in 2:20.21, just three seconds ahead of Florence Kiplagat - no relation!

Leading Harriers were, for the men, Chris Hollinshead, third in the Stafford half marathon, in 2:48.58 and for the ladies, Karen Davies 3:59.39.
