JIU Jitsu star Will Haycox was among the medals, just hours after winning a Sport Stafford Borough sports award on Friday night.
Haycox, aged 17, who won the U18 Sports Performer of the Year trophy, headed for Bristol the following day and picked up three gold medals in the Brazilian JJ Open event.
He entered the juvenile, adults light weight and adults absolute (any weight) categories and stole the show with three outright wins.
He faced a total of eight fights, two in the juvenile section and three in both of the adult events.
Haycox won all eight fights, all by submission, three by a triangle (wrapping his legs around his opponents neck until he submits), two by arm bar (bending his opponents arm backwards) and three by a foot lock (bending his opponents foot down from his ankle).
This year along, Haycox has now won nine gold medals and is looking forward to competing in many more competitions nationally and abroad in 2014.
Haycox is a lifeguard at Stafford Leisure Centre and at some point in the future he would love the opportunity to reach youngsters the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
