STAFFORD Ladies dominated their latest fixture in the Stafford and District Netball League top fight, running out 48-20 winners against Kingfisher Gems.
The Gems defended well, despite being a player short, and improved in the second quarter when pulling back to within two goals.
But the Ladies hit back in the second half, with Deb Phillips their star player.
Ladybirds were quick off the mark against Spittal Brook and raced in to a 14-3 lead at the end of the opening quarter. The former
continued to dominate and took the spoils with a 43-14 score. Best for the winners was Mia Broomhall.
The Diamonds sparkled in an all-Stafford Netball Club (SNC) clash, running out 35-22 victors over arch rivals the Sapphires. Sally Kendrick excelled for the Diamonds.
On the second division scene, Deevas pulled off a well earned 40-24 success against SNC Rubies, who took the first quarter 8-6.
However, Deevas pulled it back in the second quarter to lead 19-13 and continjued to extend
their advantage. Kelly Carr (WD) picked up Deevas’ player of the match award.
In a closely fought fixture, Saints B trailed early on against SNC Acres, before hitting back to level things at the break.
Saints B edged clear in the final section of the match to emerge 29-24 winners, led by Hannah Roberts (GD).
The final match of the week saw FMS Phoenix get the better of SNC Emeralds 26-23. Player of the match awards went to Kiah Johns (FMS) and Suzanne Ball (Emeralds).
