A NEW service helping people switch their bank account could save Stafford folk up to £600 a year, says Jeremy Lefroy MP.
Mr Lefroy urged consumers, small businesses, small charities and trusts to make use of the Current Account Switching Service to move their savings free of charge to a more economical alternative.
“Last year less than 5% of the UK’s 49 million bank accounts switched, yet we know from the industry that consumers can save up to £600 a year, simply by changing their bank account," said Mr Lefroy. "This new service will allow people to switch their bank accounts free of charge, with a guarantee that there will be no risks of financial losses, within seven days.
"I would encourage everyone to take a look at what’s on offer and find out if you could save money by switching.”
The service provides transfer of all credit and debit payments, including Direct Debits, Standing Orders and salary payments, with a redirection service capturing any payments accidentally made from or to the wrong account for the next 13 months, and will be closely monitored to ensure it runs smoothly.
