Stafford Rangers 0 Frickley Athletic 2

STAFFORD Rangers slipped to another home defeat at the hands of relegation rivals Frickley Athletic on Saturday.

Rangers should have scored inside the first minute but Jermaine Johnson put his header wide. Jimmy McCarthy then wasted another great opportunity dragging his shot wide.

McCarthy sent Dan Cope clear in the 11th minute but Frickley's Ben Simpson just did enough to stop the ball.

The visitors went close in the 13th minute when Jon Brain saved well from Fernando Moke.

Frickley's opening goal came eight minutes before the break when Gavin Allott capitalised on slips from Darren Chadwick and Brain to put the visitors ahead.

Frickley doubled their lead in the 55th minute, Allott sending Moke clear and he slipped the ball past Brain.

The introduction of Jack Lees and Alex Curtis sparked Rangers but they lacked a finish.

As it was, the visitors could have increased their tally but Brain thwarted Jake Picton twice and Allott.

Next Saturday, Rangers visit FC United of Manchester, at Gigg Lane, home of Bury FC (3pm).
