STAFFORD Rangers were dumped out of the FA Trophy on Saturday as they crashed 3-2 away to lower league Coalville Town.
It was another big disappointment for new boss Andy Mutch, who saw his side fall behind against their Evo-Stik division one South opponents on 25 minutes.
After Rangers keeper Jon Brain had kept his side in the game, Alex Dean pounced with a neat near-post flick.
Rangers levelled on 32 minutes when Jack Langston converted a penalty, before Dean restored the home lead just prior to the interval.
Anthony Carney increased the Coalville lead, but the home side then had Jordan Hempenstall sent off for elbowing Michael Carr.
The Boro pulled a goal back through Jermaine Johnson in injury time but it was too little too late for Rangers.
Mutch will now be looking for a big response on Tuesday night when Rangers entertain fourth bottom Stamford in the league (7.45pm). Stamford also bowed out of the Trophy, going down 2-1 at home to Kidsgrove Athletic at the weekend.
Second bottom Rangers, who are currently nine points off safety, have won only one league game in 13 so far this season.
