STAFFORD Rangers will want to keep a cleansheet at home to high scoring Worksop Town on Saturday, if only to avoid reaching an unwanted milestone.

If Rangers do concede this weekend it will mean they have leaked a century of goals for only the fourth time this the war.

After the Marston Road club's 4-0 defeat on the road at FC United of Manchester on Tuuesday night, Rangers' Evo-Stik Premier record this season showed 47 goals netted, but 99 conceded in 38 games.

With eight matches remaining, Rangers are just one goal away from letting in a three figure total for the first time in 48 years.

The last time they did was way back in the 1965-66 campaign when they conceded 109 goals. The season prior to that they leaked 120 and in the 1957-58 term no fewer than 104 goals.

The midweek defeat at FC United left Rangers in 22nd spot - the bottom four are due to be relegated - out of 24 clubs and on Saturday they entertain second place Worksop who have hit 104 goals and conceded 73, the fourth worst defensive record in the league.

As for the points situation, Rangers are now 16 down on fourth bottom Frickley Athletic and a further point adrift of the safety mark.
