Loughborough Dynamo 4 Stafford Rangers 2
STAFFORD Rangers were dumped out of the Doodson Sports (league) Cup with another abject performance against lower league Loughborough Dynamo on Tuesday night.
The home side, who play in the Evo Stik division one (South) section, took the lead in the second minute as Rangers failed to defend a corner and Jake Betts fired home.
A second goal soon followed for Loughborough with just ten minutes gone. Luke Smithson found acres of space on the right and curled a shot into the top corner.
Smithson continued to be given space and both Lee Morris and Rob Norris should have done better for the home side.
Rangers chances were limited and found the imposing figure of Ross Whalin, the Dynamo stopper, a difficult man to beat.
Loughborough went close to a third goal in the 39th minute but Smithson's effort cannoned off the crossbar.
Rangers grabbed a lifeline two minutes after the break when Paris Bateman converted James McCarthy's cross.
But Darren Chadwick almost gifted Loughborough a third within 30 seconds, giving the ball to Kris Nurse but Jon Brain denied him with a wonderful save.
An excellent move by Dynamo in the 56th minute ended with an excellent finish from Smithson.
Brain then saved well from Sam Wood before Nurse shrugged off a weak challenge from Bateman and a curled a shot past Brain.
The introduction of Dan Cope added some zest for Rangers and the returning striker pulled a goal back eight minutes from time.
Substitute Jake Healy forced a fine save from Whalin late on but Rangers were a well beaten outfit at the end.
