STAFFORDSHIRE-based Opus theatre led by occasional Corrie actor Gerry Hinks, will open their spring revival of their first ever production Beside the Sea.
The play, first performed by the company in 1986, follows a group of holiday makers as they navigate holiday romance, a wedding night, and a fairly terrifying landlady.
Directed by Mr Hinks, the revival of the play will showcase a few familiar faces from the original production – albeit in slightly more senior roles - but also celebrates the arrival of new faces at the Opus company, something Mr Hinks says is crucial to the resurrection.
"We have four fresh young actors joining us for this production, not to mention an international actress all the way from Holland," he said.
"When bringing back a play, it's important to inject not just nostalgia, but also a certain amount of youthful vigour, so you can do justice to a play which is special to you and your audience."
Mr Hinks will not only direct the play but take a starring role alongside Sandra Jones who appeared in the first production.
Beside The Seaside open for three nights at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre's Met Studio on Tuesday (15), with performances at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £10 / £8 concessions and can be booked by calling the Gatehouse box office on 01785 254653 or by visiting www.staffordgatehousetheatre.co.uk.
