HEARTLESS thieves have stolen equipment worth thousands of pounds from a riding club catering for disadvantaged children.

Thieves targeted a secure tack room at Bishton Hall Pony Club, in the grounds of St Bede’s School, Wolseley Bridge, in the early hours of Sunday morning and stole 10 bridles and seven saddles.

The club, which is self –funded and run by volunteers, provides riding lessons for St Bede’s pupils four afternoons a week.

It also provides once-a-year holidays for disadvantaged youngsters and weekly sessions for members of the public.
