STAFFORD A are the newly crowned Stafford 55 (Jesse Brough) Bowls League division two champions.
In last week’s title decider, Stafford A ran out 6-2 victors over Phoenix B, both teams having gone into the match on level points. As a result, the Newport Road side take the title by two points.
Third place goes to Phoenix Riverway, who closed their campaign with a 4-4 away draw at Universal B.
Fourth place Alstom C ended their fixtures with a 6-2 triumph over hosts Phoenix C, while Alstom D whitewashed basement side Amasal P 8-0.
In the top flight, newly crowned champions Universal A suffered their third defeat of the season.
They visited runners-up Greenway and went down 5-3. The Doxey team, who still have a match to play, are one point clear of the former.
Third place Penkridge CB rounded off their fixtures with a narrow 5-3 success at Alstom A. However, the village side could still be edged out if fourth place Rowley Park win their final match.
In the finals of the Dorothy Pearce Memorial Pairs at Woodfield BC, a Staffs CBA competition, victory went to Tracy Ryan and Julie Pearce.
The Shropshire pair faced Viv Roberts and Lesley Williams (Wales) in the final and ran out 21-17 victors.
South Staffs pair, Julie Alderman and Samantha Murray enjoyed a good run in the competition before bowing out at the semi-final stage.
