Former Stafford curate takes on Lichfield Cathedral role

New cathedral role for Pat Hawkins

A VICAR who began her church career as curate at St Mary’s Church, in Stafford town centre is to take on a new role at Lichfield Cathedral.

The Rev Pat Hawkins joins the cathedral in October as the Canon for pastoral development and mission.

She spent three years working at St Mary’s from 2001, her first post after training for Church of England ministry at Oxford.

Rev Hawkins is currently vicar of Oxley in Wolverhampton.

A history graduate, she is a qualified social worker and also spent 13 years as a Franciscan Sister.

The Very Rev Adrian Dorber, Dean of Lichfield, said: “This is a newly configured role at the cathedral which we hope will further strengthen pastoral care for worshippers, visitors, volunteers and staff.

“Pat is joining us at an exciting time and will play a key role as we move forward with our strategic vision for the next ten years. We look forward to welcoming her to Lichfield soon.”

The new role will include, ensuring that the church’s work in social action, peace and justice is high in the cathedral’s priorities as well as developing links with companion dioceses overseas.
