A CARING Stafford youngster will tackle a sporting challenge in a bid to pull in more than £100 for charity. Ellie Rowcliffe, nine, who lives in Weston is doing the Midlands triathlon on Sunday in aid of Cannock-based children’s charity The New Life Foundation. The challenge will involve swimming 100 metres, cycling four km and running 1.3km. The event is being held at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire, where the first stage of the triathlon, the swim, will be in the lake on the estate. Mum Claire Rowcliffe said: “Living in Staffordshire, we are aware of the work that Newlife Foundation does to help disadvantaged children. Ellie knows that while she is fortunate to have good health, not every child is the same and she wanted to do something to help. “Ellie is a keen swimmer and cyclist but she doesn’t really like the running element of the triathlon. “It was Ellie’s idea to enter the triathlon and she has set her sights on raising £100.” Ellie, a pupil at Denstone College prep school, added: “I am very excited to be doing my triathlon for Newlife and I hope to raise some money.” Anyone who would like to support Ellie should log on to https://www.justgiving.com/Claire-Rowcliffe3/
