For the last 30 years HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards has celebrated the creativity and passion of hairdressers from across the UK and today the finalists for the 2014 British Hairdressing Awards have been announced and Stafford hairdresser Matthew Roskell from Francesco Group's Weeping Cross has been named in the Midlands Hairdresser of the Year category along with Claire Chell also from Francesco Group who has been named in the Schwarzkopf Professional Colour Technician of the Year Category.

The level of creative expertise shown by both Matthew and Claire have made them worthy finalists in what are the ‘Oscars’ of the hairdressing industry. Each entry consisted of four photographic images that showcased their talents within their chosen hairdressing speciality. Judged anonymously and independently by iconic industry names, Matthew and Claire will now submit a further four images to create a collection of eight that are again judged to reveal the definitive winners.

These creative talents will come together to celebrate the industry on Monday 24th November at The Grosvenor House, a JW Marriott Hotel. A celebrity compere will host the event and as we celebrate the fifteen winners, the final award to be announced will be HJ’s British Hairdresser of the Year 2014.

Executive Director of Hairdressers Journal International Jayne Lewis-Orr says, “Congratulations to all our finalists on their achievements to date as the level of work submitted by Matthew was exceptional, making it a difficult task for our highly respected panel of judges. The work of these individuals sets the benchmark for creativity and ensures that British hairdressing receives the respect it so rightly deserves.”
