A RECORD-breaking £7,800 was raised when Katharine House Hospice (KHH) hosted their third annual mixed golf challenge.

The Swing Fore Katharine event attracted no fewer than 33 teams of four to Brocton Hall and was competed for in glorious summer weather.

There were two shotgun competitions on the day, the first in the morning, victory going to the CG Zips team with 83 stableford points. They won by two from runners-up Simon’s Diamond Geezers on 81, on a better back nine from the Simon’s Diamonds.

In the afternoon shotgun, BB Kings were clear winners with 87 points and so took the overall prize. They won the second event from Pickering and Butters (82) and Ned’s Going Home (81).

“It was great to see so many teams supporting Swing Fore Katharine again,” said KHH event fund-raiser James Lunney.

"It just goes to prove the wonderful support we receive from local people and businesses. Without the help of our supporters we would not be able to provide free care at Katharine House Hospice.”

Swing Fore Katharine was sponsored by Pickering and Butters solicitors, Western Power Distribution and Milford CC. Barclays Bank matched the raffle pound for pound.
