AN intrepid Stafford haulier is swapping his lorry for a humble bike next week in memory of his nephew.

Donovan Webster who was just 18 when he lost his battle with cancer in Leeds in 2006. And in the years since, his uncle Cliff Whiteley, of Silkmore Lane, has been taking on challenges in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Mr Whiteley, 51, who drives for Tufnells, has raised thousands of pounds by running half marathons, including the Stafford race, and cycling. On March 8, just three hours after coming off his lorry, he will get on his bike and pedal from Stafford to Leeds - a gruelling 89-mile trip which he hopes to complete within ten hours.

So far more than £800 has been pledged, but Mr Whiteley hopes to smash the £1,000 target. Anyone who would like to sponsor him should visit www.justgiving.com/cliffys.
