A POPULAR member of a Stafford church community found dead at his home had suffered a stroke, an inquest heard.
Antony Dutton, 51, a well-respected member of Rising Brook Baptist Church, was found in the bathroom of his Doxey Fields home by police on April 24, Cannock Coroner’s Court was told on Tuesday.
Mr Dutton had suffered from migraines, epilepsy and depression in recent years, and had had issues with alcohol, occasionally drinking to excess, the inquest was told.
But toxicology tests revealed no signs of overdosing on medication or excess alcohol at the time of his death, coroner’s officer Simon Webster said.
A post-mortem revealed Mr Dutton had suffered a cerebral infarction, a form of stroke.
South Staffordshire Coroner Andrew Haigh recorded a verdict of death by natural causes.
