STAFFORD motorcyclist Mark Tomkinson secured a Sound of Thunder class victory on his Triumph 675 in the recent round six event of the Darley Moor Motorcycle Championship on Bank Holiday, Monday.
After finishing second in his first race Tomkinson won the second race completing eight laps of the circuit in 8 minutes 27 seconds averaging 85mph.
He remains fourth overall in the championship but closed the gap to third place to just two points.
Stone sidecar racer Dean Banks and his partner Ken Edwards were also in action on their LCR 600 finising second in their first race and fourth in the second.
These results meant they moved into first in the Formular 600 Sidecar Championship holding an eight point advantage with two rounds to go.
The penultimate round of the Darley Moor Motorcycle Championship is on September 15 (Sunday).
