A NEWSLETTER reporter is putting her best food forward tomorrow at the start of a 200-mile walk.
Gail Atkinson will set out from the French town of St Jean Pied de Port at the foot of the Pyrenees.
The ancient pilgrimage route goes over the mountain range and continues for 500 miles across the north of Spain.
It finishes in Santiago de Compostela where the remains of the apostle St James are said to be interred.
Christians have made the pilgrimage to the shrine for 1,200 years.
Gail, 54, has already completed two sections of the Camino Frances route, walking 200 miles from Leon to Santiago in 2010 and 100 miles from Burgos to Leon in 2012.
This time around she is hoping to finish in Burgos having been in training since January.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” she said.
“I have done it back to front really but when I did my first walk I had no idea what I was letting myself in for. I have been hooked on the camino ever since and one day I hope to walk the whole route in one go.”
The Newsletter will be publishing updates from Gail’s blog - cottontowngal.wordpress.com - as she goes along.
