SHOWPIECE new play facilities will be officially opened as part of this year’s Fun in the Park at Wildwood Park, Stafford, next Sunday, August 31.
Mayor of Stafford Councillor Ray Sutherland will be officially opening £400,000 worth of new play equipment and landscaping in the popular park at 2pm.
The opening will be followed by a packed programme of family fun events, organised by Wildwood Church.
The free event includes displays from Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire Service plus performances by local organisations ranging from choirs and dance groups to a dog training club.
New attractions this year include the Balliamo belly dancers and Stafford Operatic Society.
Attractions also include face painting, a bouncy castle, a coconut shy and a barbecue.
“The event has to be one of the highlights of the summer holidays,” said local county councillor John Francis, who is providing funding for the event with his colleague Len Bloomer through Staffordshire’s local community fund.
“It’s great to see local residents of all ages having fun together and I’m looking forward to joining in again this year.”
The event runs from 2pm to 4.30pm and admission and many of the stalls are free. Children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult.
