WHERE WERE YOU BORN? Portsmouth.

WHAT WAS YOUR CHILDHOOD LIKE?

It was lovely. My parents always made sure that my brother and I had great Christmases, birthdays and family days out. They both worked very hard.

Trips to the seaside with ice-creams, chips in a cone and trying to go for a paddle without hurting your feet on the shingle beach.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO DO WHEN YOU LEFT SCHOOL?

When I was 14 I had a brace fitted and thought the nurse's job looked very interesting so that was it.

HOW DID YOUR CAREER AND LIFE PROGRESS?

After finishing my dental nursing training I worked at a busy practice in Portsmouth for four years. In 1994 circumstances found me here in Stafford and I've worked in the same town centre practice. In 2000 I met Steve and in 2011 we finally got round to getting married.

WHAT PROMPTED YOU TO SET UP THE WEBSITE?

When the recession hit I shared a couple of my favourite recipes on a website I was involved with at the time. I got such a good response that I decided to set up my own website. My maiden name was actually Cooke and it seemed silly not to use it so that's how The Credit Crunch Cooke was born and why it's spelled that way.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE REACTION TO IT?

I've had some really positive feedback from people and my Facebook and Twitter following is growing all the time.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?

When I get messages from people saying that they have tried one of my recipes and it's become a family favourite. That's a really good feeling.

DO YOU HAVE ANY REGRETS?

None, whatever life throws at me I try to learn from it.

WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE AIMS/AMBITIONS?

To keep helping people save money and put tasty meals on the table as food prices have been going up for many years and continue to increase. Also I'm hoping to put together an e book later in the year so that I can share even more budget-friendly recipes.

HOW CAN PEOPLE FOLLOW YOUR RECIPES?

You can see all my recipes, hints and tips at www.thecreditcrunchcooke.com

or find me on Facebook as The Credit Crunch Cooke or Twitter @mrswinklecooks
