STAFFORD has been saved from the dubious honour of inclusion in a new book of “crap towns”.
Authors of Crap Towns Returns included the county town in their long list of 100 potential entries in July – a move that sparked fierce debate between Stafford’s supporters and those who thought it deserved its place.
The book was published today, but there was no trace of Stafford to be found within its pages.
Nearby Stoke on Trent was not so lucky however, landing the number 10 spot in the list of towns and cities. The Potteries city was described as “a prime example of industrial decline and stagnation.”
Other towns and cities that feature in the book include Oxford, York, Nuneaton and Coventry. London topped the chart.
