A TALENTED singer, songwriter and guitarist from Stafford has been selected from hundreds of youngsters to perform in the opening ceremony of the Sainsbury’s 2014 School Games.
Georgia Stanway, 19, will perform at the Phones 4 U Arena in front thousands to mark the opening of the event, which takes place at sporting venues across Manchester between September 4 to 7.
Sarah Keating and Melissa Preston, from Sainsbury’s Stafford store on Chell Road, visited Georgia to wish her luck and to see how preparations are going for the big day.
Georgia, who is currently studying music at The University of Sheffield, specialises in indie and folk music. However, the talented artist is also a classically trained singer and violinist. When not studying in Sheffield, she presents the ‘Warm up Weekender’ show on Stafford FM.
Georgia, said: “Performing in front of thousands of people at the Sainsbury’s 2014 School Games is very exciting but also a little nerve-racking. I’ve been making the most of the summer holidays and have been putting in hours of practice so now I’m just really looking forward to performing on a stage that has played host to some of the world’s biggest stars.”
