STAFFORD slimmers have been sorting out their wardrobes and helped pull in more than £5,000 as part of a national fund-raiser for Cancer Research UK. Slimming World groups have been donating their old clothes, shoes and accessories as part of the Big Slimming World Clothes Throw. Over a two-week period they collected 156 bags, raising £5,850. Diane Attwell, who runs Slimming World groups at John Wheeldon School and Stafford Cricket Club, said a number of her members had lost weight since joining in January and dropped several dress sizes so they found it liberating to get rid of old clothes. She said: “It is a great campaign and members have really got involved. Cancer touches so many people’s lives so most people are keen to contribute.” Gill Delves, who manages the Cancer Research UK shop in Stone, said: “We welcome clothes and items of all shapes, sizes and styles and were absolutely thrilled to receive such a huge donation of clothing from the Stafford Slimming World groups.”
