STAFFORD and Stone School Sport Partnership (SSSSP) hosted a sportshall athletics final for year five and six pupils.

The event took place at Blessed William Howard High School and featured six finalists, who had come through qualifyng rounds to reach the final.

Races included obstacle, 2-lap relay, 4-lap relay, 6-lap relay, a 4x1 lap relay. In the field, the boys and girls also took part in the vertical jump, chest push, javelin, long jump and triple jump.

All events were officiated and timed by sports leaders from the host school.

After many events the first two teams were seperated by only two points with victory going to Barnfields Primary School in Stafford.

They won from Burton Manor, with St John’s CE in third place. Barnfields will now represent SSSSP in the County School Games Finals at Fenton Manor, Stoke in January.

"It was a thrilling and exciting event to watch.  All the teams gave maximum effort and I congratulate Barnfields on their win,” said Steve Glover, partnership development manager for the SSSSP.

“The spirit of the Olympic Games is still very much alive in Stafford and Stone."
