STAFFORD

COMMUNITY COUNCIL: The community bulk oil buying scheme run by the council has a double reason to celebrate. The scheme has now successfully been running for a year and has achieved a membership of over three hundred. The scheme helps members save money on the cost of buying domestic oil by combining orders and negotiating the price with suppliers direct. JEREMY LEFROY: The Stafford MP has two advice surgeries for parishioners to attend this weekend. The first is on Friday at The Signpost Centre, ST17 9TX, from 11am to 1pm, and is by appointment only due to the high demand. The second is at the Trinity Church in Mount Street from 11am to 12.30pm and this surgery is on a first come, first served basis.

DERRINGTON

ST MATTHEW’S CHURCH: A carol concert by The Eccleshall Singers will be performed on Tuesday at 7pm.

LIBRARY: The mobile library van will be in the area on Wednesday starting at St Matthew’s Drive at 1.50pm, Field Crescent/The Drive at 2.25pm, St Matthew’s Church at 2.50pm and finishes at Castle View at 3.25pm.

BERKSWICH

METHODIST CHURCH: Women’s fellowship is today at 2.30pm at the home of Mrs Vera Crook at Tiverton Avenue, Weeping Cross. Donations from the memorial service for Andrew Pearson totalled £578. Frank and Gill Pearson have topped this up to the equivalent of $1000 which has now been donated to the Greater Miami Humane Society in America in Andrew’s memory.

HISTORY SOCIETY: Members are meeting on Tuesday in the village hall at Walton at 7.30pm. Guest speaker is Dorothy Nicolle whose topic will be ‘The Truth about Christmas’. Visitors welcome entrance fee £2. Further information from the speaker and Chairman Beryl Holt on 01785 665834.
