ANCIENT HIGHHOUSE: From Tuesday through to Christmas Eve the House is hosting a nostalgic look at toys from Christmas past, with toys, books and games from the Victorian period to the 20th century. Staff will be making Christmas puddings on Saturday December 7 and visitors can learn about Christmas in the Stuart, Tudor, Georgian and Victorian times. No booking necessary, admission free.
COMMUNITY COUNCIL: The community bulk oil buying scheme run by the council has a double reason to celebrate. The scheme has now successfully been running for a year and has achieved a membership of over three hundred. The scheme helps members save money on the cost of buying domestic oil by combining orders and negotiating the price with suppliers direct. ST MARY’S CHURCH: The Cannock Salvation Army Band will be performing Christmas carols on Sunday at 3pm.
INNER WHEEL QUIZ: The winners of the quiz organised by the Stafford Inner Wheel on Saturday November 16 were the Garlic Bread team led by husband and wife Alan and Sandra Hunt.
They received the traditional case of wine and the club funds benefited from the evening which had peter Jones as the question master.
ROTARY CLUB: The Stafford Rotary Club holds its annual Christmas dinner at the Brocton Golf Club on Wednesday November 11 with entertainment provided by the club members. members took part in the Stafford Town Parade on Saturday November 23 with a decorated float and street collectors. the float was judged for 2nd place. The club is celebrating 90 years in Rotary and together with the Knot and Castle Rotary Clubs jointly arranged the float.
ALZHEIMER’S: A support evening for Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia sufferers, their families and carers will be held next Thursday from 7pm to 9pm at the village hall. ST GILES’S CHURCH: The Men’s Breakfast is on Saturday after the 8am prayers and will be followed by a discussion possibly on an ethical issue.
MUSIC SOCIETY: Only one meeting is being held in December which is on Tuesday which will be a ‘Members Selection Box’. The first meeting in the new year is on Tuesday January 14.

VILLAGE NEWS: Subscriptions for the 200 Club for November 2013 to October 2014 are due now and will be collected shortly.
The Painting Group meet every Thursday morning 10am to 12 noon, any ability, new members welcome. A quiz is being held in the village hall tomorrow.
