STAFFORD

ROTARY CLUB: 130 people attended the 90th Charter Lunch of the Stafford Rotary Club at the Chase Golf Club in Penkridge on Sunday February 16. The event was attended by the national President of Rotary Nan McCreadie, the Mayor of Stafford Borough, District Governor Barry Picken and representatives from 15 other Rotary Club, Inner Wheel and Probus. The entertainment was provided by singer Helen Morrey and the Stafford Grammar School Big Band. The guests were all welcome by club president Helen Perren.

Plans for the annual Walk in the Park at Sandon Hall on Sunday April 27 are well in hand and this year will include a walk with Peppa Pig.

ST JOHN’S CHURCH: ‘Tools for your Toolbox’ is a drop-in resource morning for all Children and Youth workers in and around the Stafford area and is being held on Saturday between 10am and 12 noon.

BLOOD DONATION: Donors can give blood at Stafford Rangers Football Club, Marston Road, ST16 3BX on Sunday between 10am – 12.15pm and 13.45pm – 15.30pm. Appointments recommended but not essential. For further information please call 0300 123 23 23 or visit www.blood.co.uk

BERKSWICH

METHODIST CHURCH: Sunday services this week will be 8.30am Holy Communion taken by Reverend Nathan Falla, 10am service with Mrs Sheila Jeffries and the 6.30pm service will be taken by Reverend Neil Adams. On Sunday parishioners are being asked to bring in their collection containers for the silver collection. On Wednesday Reverend Nathan Falla will be leading the Ash Wednesday service starting at 7pm.

On Saturday the church walking group will be meeting at the church car park at 9.30am. The walk will be approximately five to six miles long mainly over Cannock Chase to the Clifford Arms Public House at Great Haywood. Walk leader is John King.

DERRINGTON

ST MATTHEW’S CHURCH: The church’s annual meeting will be held next Thursday in the village hall at 7.30pm.

HAUGHTON

ST GILES’S CHURCH: The monthly Men’s Breakfast is at 8.30am on Saturday after the 8am prayers and will be followed by an ethical discussion. The topic this month is Assisted Suicide – re the Bill in Parliament.

WI: Members meet on Monday in the village hall at 7.30pm. The forthcoming programme for 2014 has now been finalised and prospective members are being offered two free meetings to see the friendly group in action.

HYDE LEA / COPPENHALL

VILLAGE HALL: The Juice Comedy Club are back at the hall for a comedy evening on Friday March 14. The evening starts at 7.45pm. It is advisable to purchase tickets early as the evening is usually a ‘sell out’. Tickets are £7 from John on 01785 245028 or Rob on 254838 or Stuart at The Crown. Patrons can bring their own drinks and food.

CHURCH OF ST LAWRENCE: The village hall is also the venue for a bingo and spud supper evening on Friday March 7, organised by church members. Start time 7.30pm. Tickets are adults £7.50 and children £5 from Judith Lawrence on 01785 251293.
