STAFFORD

MAYORAL VISIT: The guest of honour at the Stafford Rotary Club on Wednesday January 15 is Mayor Angela Loughran at the Con Club starting at 12.30pm.

JEREMY LEFROY: The MP has two surgeries this week, the first is on Saturday from 11am to 12.30pm at the Trinity Church, and is on a first come first served basis with no appointment necessary. The regular Stafford Works Job Club is on Tuesday at Stafford College, room E216 from 10am to 11.30am. The Works Team is a team of volunteers who can help with the search for jobs, help with a CV and advice on how to succeed at an interview.

METHODIST CHURCH: Joyce Bearne of Main Road, Milford will be hosting today’s Women’s Fellowship at 2.30pm. Sunday services this week are 10am Covenant Service with reverend Nathan Falla, 4pm Messy Church and 6.30pm service also with Reverend Nathan Falla.

A new series of studies looking at Worship, based on the book of Daniel, will be starting on Wednesday at 7.45pm. More details from Chris Nuttall.

WALTON MUSIC CIRCLE: Members are meeting on Tuesday in Walton Village Hall at 7.15pm. Chairman John Holt is the guest and his recital is entitled ‘from Farrier to Ferrier’. New members and visitors are welcome. Further information from Secretary Mike Jones on 01785 661622.

HAUGHTON

AMENITY VAN: The first visit of the year for the Council’s amenity van is on Saturday from 9am to 11am. The van will be parked on the car park at the village hall.

ST GILES CHURCH: To celebrate Epiphany a special carols service will be held on Sunday at 4.30pm.

KNIT AND SEW: Penny Rogers would like to start a group meeting in the village hall on a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon for anyone interested in knitting or sewing. Penny can be contacted on 01785 780403.

DERRINGTON

WI: The December meeting was a special Christmas evening with guest Dianne Scott who demonstrated the art of flower arranging. The January meeting is on Monday at 7.45pm and will include a bring and buy auction. The New Year Dinner is on Saturday January 25 and will have a Scottish theme as this is also Burn’s Night.

HYDE LEA/ COPPENHALL

VILLAGE HALL: Committee members have organised a Wine Tasting Italian Night for Saturday January 18 to be held in the hall. Tickets are £12 to include a light supper from either John Eaves on 01785 245028 or David Harding on 01785 245499. Tickets are limited for this event.

BRIDGE DRIVE: The next drive is on Tuesday in the village hall. Coffee from 10.30am, play starts at 11am until 3pm. Cost is £4 per player which includes a salad lunch. Raffle, proceeds to the village hall.
