UNEMPLOYMENT in Stafford is among the lowest in the country according to new figures.
The number of unemployed claimants in Stafford constituency in March 2014 was 1,006 – 566 fewer than the same period last year and 98 lower than February.
Stafford MP Jeremy Lefroy said: “Today’s figures are excellent news. The drop of 98 in one month is very positive and bears out what I am being told by local businesses, which is that they are looking to expand and take on more employees.
“Also, the drop of over 500 in 12 months, a drop of over a third, shows that the local economy is gaining confidence.
“However, we must not be complacent. I am committed to doing everything I can to help people in Stafford find work."
Mr Lefroy, in partnership with Stafford College and Stafford Works, will be holding another career/jobs fair at Stafford College sports hall on Monday, June 30, from 10am-3pm.
