Bits n' Bobs

I hadn’t realised when we starting arranging the wedding, what was really involved in getting the 'big day' right.  You know about the dress, the church, the reception venue and all the big things you need to organise but then as time goes on, you realise how many other smaller things need to be sorted.

After talking to family, we’d decided not to bother with things like pew ends, a guest book and little things like that.  Then it all changed when I discovered two brilliant pages on facebook.  One’s called Bargain Wedding Items NO RULES! and Wedding Items for Sale in Ashby, Coalville, Swadlincote and Surrounding Areas.

What you can’t get from those facebook pages, you don’t need.  They are great - brides to be can sell any unwanted items on the pages, and businesses can sell their wares.  Brides to be (and their husbands to be) can also share experiences and get advice and ask questions from other btb’s.

I’ve completely changed my mind on so many things since discovering the pages, much to Simon’s dismay, and our budget!

I’ve bought a beautiful guest book from a lady called Jacqui Whitmore (based in Leicester) and it was only £12.  I bought some stunning pew ends from a company called Bowsnbits Bonanza.  They aren’t based locally but they only took a couple of days to come.  Honestly, I could go on forever with what I’ve bought from businesses on facebook.

I was really struggling to get someone to do my wedding make-up and the updo’s for the bridesmaids (my hairdresser doesn’t do updo’s) at my house as I didn’t want to start travelling about to shops during my wedding morning.  It’s going to be busy enough as it is. So I thought I’d give the facebook pages a try.  Within a few days I’d got a make-up trial booked with Beauty by Jenna and a hair trial with one of Jenna’s

friends, Donna.  It’s lucky that I found Donna, as I’ve since found out that my hairdresser is on holiday when I get married, so she’s doing my hair as well.

I’m so glad that I’ve made contact with Jenna as she does so many beauty treatments in your own home – waxing, tanning, manicures, tinting, too many to mention.  I really don’t feel confident enough to go to salons for treatments so

this discovery was a real boost to me.  I’ve already had my eyebrows waxed, false lashes, a spray tan and my eyebrows tinted since I met Jenna.

I’ve even found a lady called Alison Barnett, who runs her business Tantrums to Tiaras in the next village, Newhall on the facebook pages.  I’ve bought all my bridesmaids’ tiaras and hair pins for a very reasonable price.  They are all hand made to an exceptionally high standard.

These pages, and there are a few more popping up all the time, are great if you are on a budget.  You can get all your wedding stationery for such great prices, flowers, jewellery, cars, dresses, bridesmaid dresses, favours and photographs.  In fact, you could find everything you want on these pages without even leaving your house. How amazing is that?!
