Staffordshire festival targeted by thief

A MAN has been taken into custody for questioning following a spate of thefts at a Staffordshire music festival.

Police attended Uttoxeter Racecourse today, where the Acoustic Festival of Britain is being staged across the weekend, to gather evidence from victims. They are currently unable to confirm how many people have been targeted.

A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman said: “We were called at around 4.20am when a man was disturbed in a tent at the Racecourse in Wood Lane

“Local officers, along with colleagues from the Dog Support Unit and Armed Response Team (not responding in an armed capacity), attended and began scouring the area.

“Following initial inquiries and extensive searches of the surrounding area a 30-year-old man was arrested and he remains in custody for questioning.

“A number of discarded items of suspected stolen property were also located.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 55 of May 30.
