STAFFORDSHIRE firefighters are set to strike over the Bank Holiday weekend in the latest stage of their battle over pension changes.
Local firefighters are due to join a strike called by the Fire Brigades Union on Friday May 2, between noon and 5pm, Saturday May 3, between 2pm and 2am the next morning, and on Sunday May 4, between 10am and 3pm.
There will also be a ban on voluntary overtime from 3pm on Sunday May 4 until noon on Friday May 9.
FBU general secretary Matt Wrack said the latest strike followed three years of unresolved talks with the government over the future of the pension scheme.
Firefighters voted by 78 per cent for strike action in a ballot last August, and the first series of strikes took place in January.
