Staffordshire firefighters to host family day

STAFFORDSHIRE firefighters are inviting visitors to a Family Day at the service’s headquarters at Pirehill, near Stone, next month.

.The free event, from midday to 4pm on Saturday, September 20, will offer entertainment for children and adults alike.

Visitors will be able to watch fire and rescue crews carry out a variety of daring demonstrations, including house rescues and car crash extrications.

The fleet of emergency vehicles will also be showcased as well vehicles from a range of partner organisations.

Visitors can talk to firefighters about home and road safety. People can also sign up for free home fire risk checks.

Stafford FM will be entertaining guests and there will be competitions and a barbecue.

Jude Russell, internal communications and events manager, said: "The Family Day is a great chance for members of the community to gain a real insight into the wide range of work that the fire and rescue service carries out.

"It is also a really good opportunity for visitors to learn more about fire safety in the home and there will be lots of fun filled activities to entertain guests both young and old."
