Staffordshire police are warning vulnerable householders to be on their guard after a bogus police officer alert in neighbouring Shropshire yesterday, March 25.
A bogus official claiming to be a police officer visited homes in Shropshire yesterday afternoon.
The male claimed to be a police officer and requested bank details from the occupants of homes, claiming that they had someone in custody and they were investigating the theft of the occupants' details.
"Bogus officials often move from area to area to commit further crimes so please if someone comes to your home, don't let them in and check their ID," a Staffordshire police spokeswoman said.
"Call the police on 101 if you are suspicious and please remind elderly neighbours and family so they can avoid becoming a victim."
