FORMER Land Girls and Lumber Jills are being urged to attend the unveiling of a sculpture commemorating their wartime contributions.
The Land Girl Tribute Project launched a campaign to see the women’s work recognised with a statue at the National Memorial Arboretum, in Alrewas.
The bronze sculpture was created by Stoke artist Denise Dutton - and one of the models was Tixall farmer’s daughter Izzy Wright of Kennels Farm.
Miss Wright is the grand-daughter of former Land Girl Mary Wright, who helped found the project.
Anyone wishing to attend the unveiling at the Arboretum in the autumn, can download an application form from www.womensland armytribute.co.uk.
