FORMER Land Girls and Lumber Jills are being urged to attend the unveiling of a sculpture commemorating their wartime contributions.

The Land Girl Tribute Project launched a campaign to see the women’s work recognised with a statue at the National Memorial Arboretum, in Alrewas.

The bronze sculpture was created by Stoke artist Denise Dutton - and one of the models was Tixall farmer’s daughter Izzy Wright of Kennels Farm.

Miss Wright is the grand-daughter of former Land Girl Mary Wright, who helped found the project.
