TWO STAFFORDSHIRE teenagers are bringing a flavour of America’s Superbowl to the UK.

Best friends Alistair Willcox from Brereton and Leo Chuck from Whittington, both 19, have been picked to play for the Great Britain under 19s American football team.

And their first outing on the national field, against the Netherlands under 19s at Newcastle’s Gateshead Stadium, resulted in success with a 28 – 14 win.

The pair have previously played rugby for Lichfield, before developing an interest in American football, and they play the US game for Tamworth Phoenix.

Alistair also studies broadcast journalism at Nottingham Trent University, while Leo works for Rugeley-based Kribensis Leisure Contracts, a specialist hotel, restaurant and bar construction company.

Alistair, a former Hagley Park Academy pupil, said: ““We both love American football. It probably stems from our love of rugby, from which American football originally developed.

“It’s a great honour to be picked for the Great Britain team and we hope to progress further in the game.”
