A COACHING day for women-only cyclists is being promoted by Stafford Road Club next month.
The local club is hosting a specific coaching day for females contemplating taking up cycling and those that have already started.
Tips will be given on such things as choosing a bike, bike set-up, equipment required for cycling, clothing and bike maintenance.
Others areas will feature the benefit of eating while out riding and for recovery, hydration on and off the bike.
Advice will also be given for anyone planning a longer charity ride or event, training programmes and details of women-only and mixed rides.
The day will be lead by Veronica Swinnerton (Swinnerton Cycles), Wendy Anderson (dietician) and the women’s record holder for a Land’s End to John O’Groats ride, Lyne Taylor. The event is at Birches Valley, Cannock Chase on Saturday, March 1, from 10am to 12noon.
“I took up cycling a few years ago after agreeing to do a sponsored charity ride with some friends from work,” said Susan Semple of Stafford RC.
“But having never ridden for more than a few miles in and out of town before I was encouraged to get involved in some of the steady rides Stafford RC ran each week.
“With the many tips I learnt from cyclists I met each week I soon became more efficient on a bike and increased my mileage gradually.”
