LICHFIELD Cathedral will host a farewell "thumbs up" for teenage cancer fundraiser Stephen Sutton.
A public vigil will also be held to remember the Staffordshire teenager. His body will lie in "a place of honour" at Lichfield Cathedral from 7pm on Thursday May 29, before a private family funeral the next day.
Cathedral officials said the building would be open during the evening for members of the public to pay their respects.
Stephen, from Burntwood, raised £3.2 million for the Teenage Cancer Trust before his death.
His mother, Jane Sutton, said the love and support for Stephen's family in the wake of his death last Wednesday was a great comfort.
Instead of a traditional minute's silence, a celebratory thumbs up will take place outside the cathedral at 11am on Friday May 30 before his funeral.
Stephen made the thumbs up gesture in the selfie which went viral and turned his record-breaking fundraising campaign into a world-wide sensation.
Since his death, the amount raised through his Justgiving page is heading for the £4 million mark.
