ST JOHN’S METHODIST CHURCH COFFEE MORNING: The next coffee morning is on Saturday April 19 at the Guide Headquarters, Westbridge Park, from 10am until 12noon.

St John’s Church services are held in Walton Priory Middle School.

CAR BOOT: The next-to-last car boot sale of the season will be held at Walton Community Centre, Sunday April 27, from 8.30am until 12noon. Tea, coffee and light refreshments are available. The cost of an inside table is £5 (table is provided); outside is £4 (please provide your own table). Contact Andrea, 01785 813461.

ANNUAL PUBLIC MEETING: Stone Town Council holds this yearly meeting in Stone Railway Station Community Centre on Thursday 245 April at 7pm. A report on the year’s work of the council is given and members of the public can attend and ask questions. Tea and coffee is usually available.

BREWERY NIGHT: The Mayor, Councillor Piggott, is holding a fundraising night at the Lymestone Brewery on Friday May 2. Tickets are £13 and include food and open bar. The Mayor’s charities are Katharine House Hospice, Stone and District Stroke Club and Oak Tree Rural Farm. Tickets from Stone Town Council, 01785 619743.

STREET COLLECTION: The Mayor’s street collection will take place on Saturday May 3 from 9am until 12noon in Stone High Street and at Morrison’s supermarket. If you would like to help please contact the Mayor’s Secretary, 01785 619743.

Throughout April there is a canalside photographic display also with items available for purchase. Tomorrow, Good Friday, the library is closed, it is then open on Saturday but closed for Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. Thereafter, normal opening hours are resumed.

STONE RECORDED MUSIC SOCIETY: This group meets in the building behind Walton Community Centre and the next meeting is Friday April 25 at 7.30pm. Michael Harding will narrate the theme Musical Humour. Prospective members are welcome to come along and see if they enjoy the music. Contact Geoff, 01785 817402.

AGE CONCERN STONE AND DISTRICT: The office closes at 4pm today, and will reopen on Tuesday. The coffee morning in the coffee lounge from 9.45am until 11.15am will be as normal.

HILDERSTONE

The acoustic nights at the Roebuck Pub on Thursdays have now started again. The music played is a mix of contemporary American and Folk. Starts around 8.15pm. The Roebuck is now open every day from 12noon until 12 midnight.

LE VIDE GRENIER: Attic, garage, table-top sale. This event will take place on Saturday May 10 from 2pm until 5pm. Stroll around the stalls in the village, purchase some bargains; the Church will be open, and cream teas will be available in the village hall. Also the Radford Artists will be exhibiting some of their art and handmade gifts in the village hall from 12noon until 5pm. There will be pictures in oils and watercolours, jewellery plus more.

ASTON BY STONE

ST SAVIOUR’S CHURCH; There are a few seats left for the coach trip on Saturday June 21 to Dunham Massey, a National Trust property near Altrincham. There is a special exhibition on marking the centenary of the First World War by telling the story of Stamford Military Hospital. The cost is around £25 and includes admission and the coach.
