FASHION SALE: A sale of ladies’, men’s and children’s wear will be held in St Michael’s Hall on Saturday from 10am until 1pm. There will be a large selection of brand-new clothes and accessories provided by major high-street retailers, offered at fantastic bargain prices. The sale is being hosted by Stone Lion’s Club and all proceeds are in aid of The Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children. Admission is £2 which includes a cup of tea or coffee, entrance by ticket or pay at the door. Further information, contact Chris Handley on 01785 812027.

HEALING SERVICE: On Sunday in St Michael and St Wulfad’s Church at 4pm, this service will celebrate Holy Communion with the opportunity of laying on of hands with prayer and anointing. Everyone is welcome to attend and join in the tea and coffee afterwards.

ASH WEDNESDAY: This service, in St Michael’s and St Wulfad’s on March 5 at 7.30pm, marks the start of the season of Lent, a season of new beginnings,. There will be Holy Communion followed by the blessing and imposition of ashes as a mark of renewed profession of faith.

U3A STROLLERS: On Wednesday March 5, Dimmingsdale then Ramblers Retreat, leaving Walton Community Centre at 0930. The walk is described as moderate and 3 miles long. Please remember to offer a contribution towards fuel costs if sharing a lift. Contact Mary/Erica, 01785 813722

ROYAL AIR FORCES ASSOCIATION: The Stone and District Branch Annual General Meeting will be on Monday March 10 at 7pm in The Pheasant, Old Road. Membership is open to all ex-RAF (including National Servicemen), WRAF, and PMRAFNS. Members of the public interested in supporting the aims of this, the largest single-Service organisation in the UK, are welcome to become associate members. BINGO: At St Dominic’s Social Centre, Station Road, on Tuesday and Thursday starting at 8pm. Open to everyone. Bar available.

FARMERS MARKET: on Saturday in Stone High Street from 9am onwards.

CAR BOOT: Sunday from 8.30am until 12 noon. Inside space with table provided is £5. Outside is £4, please provide your own table. Tea, coffee and light refreshments are available. The next one will be on Sunday March 16. To book, contact Andrea, 01785 813461.

STONE WI: On Wednesday March 5 at 2pm in Christchurch Centre.

The programme is listed as Health Foods and the competition is “A Home Remedy For……. ?”.

STONE RECORDED MUSIC SOCIETY: Meets in the building behind Walton Community Centre at 7.30pm. There is an interval at 8.30pm with light refreshments and social chat. Prospective members attend the first recital without charge, You are invited to attend to see if you enjoy the music. Diana Hill is the narrator on The Music That I Care to Hear.

WOMEN’S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER: This year the theme is Streams in the Desert, and has been prepared by Christian women in Egypt. This service takes place throughout the Christian world. St Dominic’s Church are hosting Stone’s service on Friday March 7 at 2pm. The speakers are Dr Ibraham and Dr Salib. Refreshments are available after the service. Men are most welcome to attend.
