JOB-SEEKERS in Stone will get a helping hand to find work from September when a popular drop-in event returns to the town's library.
Following the popularity of May's 'Spring into Work' event in May, a partnership including the National Careers Service, Signposts, Staffordshire County Council and Jobcentre Plus will host a series of free support events at Stone Library on the first Tuesday of every month starting Tuesday September 3 between 12pm and 3pm.
County council cabinet member for community, culture and localism, Mike Lawrence, said: “Many more job-related services are now being delivered over the internet and local libraries are a perfect point of access," he said. “The jobs market is still very tough at the moment and jobseekers need all the help they can get to find work.
"Many of our libraries already have regular work clubs where people are finding the help they need to get back into employment or training."
Councillor Lawrence said he was proud Staffordshire Libraries were able to play a crucial role in the county council's efforts to promote growth and employment and urged jobseekers in Stone and the surrounding areas to take advantage of the opportunity to get some free support and advice.
The free drop-in events are aimed at anyone interested in a new career, current vacancies, starting their own business or looking to find a way back into education, re-training or volunteering with help on the day including support with online job searches, basic IT skills, CV writing and interview techniques.
