SUPPORT Stafford Hospital campaigner Maurice Blisson has made the decision to step down from the group just weeks after a councillor left. Former Newsletter journalist Mr Blisson, who acted as media liaison for the group, said he had decided to walk away for health reasons. He said: “I joined as the hospital had looked after me so well. With all the legal challenges coming up there is going to be a lot of work. I just feel I need to take time out and concentrate on my health.” Last month Labour Councillor Rowan Draper decided to walk away from the group because of differing views about whether or not to pursue a judicial review into the stripping of services at Stafford Hospital. Councillor Draper said: "I firmly believe the way forward is a Judicial Review challenging the decision made by The Secretary of State for Health. Support Stafford Hospital have not decided to follow this path. I have therefore decided to resign. “I wish the group well. I will continue to support the campaign to retain acute services in Stafford. Our community deserves better and I will continue to fight for that goal."
