SUPPORT Stafford Hospital campaigners have created a new email link in their bid to build a national campaign against controversial NHS changes.

They are calling on campaign groups across the country who are battling hospital closures and service reductions to get in touch with them at the new email address: campaigns@supportstaffordhospital.co.uk

“We are calling on all NHS campaign groups from across the UK to get in touch,” said organiser Cheryl Porter.

“We want to share knowledge, pool information and come together as one to make a stand against hospital closures nationwide from the viewpoint of those who will be affected most - the people themselves.”

She said the protest camp’s big weekend barbecue, which welcomed campaign groups from across the country, prompted the idea of joining together and coordinating their efforts on a national scale.

“We had the unique opportunity to get together with some of the campaign groups whose services are under threat like ours,” said Mrs Porter, from Brocton.

“The stories being shared were all too familiar, the services being targeted for downgrade were almost a mirror image.

“These were towns where, like ourselves, the people have no other choice but to stand up and fight to protect what is fundamentally theirs – the NHS.”
