Tap and Spile win Challenge Cup shoot out

SECOND division Tap and Spile have pulled off an impressive league and cup double.

In a matter of days, Tap and Spile won a Challenge Cup final thriller at Brocton to edge out Perkins Social on penalties. The teams shared four goals after extra-time, before Tap and Spile took the penalty shoot-out 5-4.

Then, on Sunday, Tap and Spile wrapped up the division two crown with a 5-0 victory over Werder Brocton and with one match to go.

Another team “at the double” this week were Perkins Social in division three. They defeated nearest rivals The Yard 3-2 in the divisional trophy final at Evans Park, having already secured the title and despite crashing 4-0 away to Rangers Exciles in the league on Sunday.

The division one championship battle remains a three horse race between FC Gnosall, Staffs Bull and Met Bar,

This week Staffs Bull dropped crucial points in a 3-3 draw at RC Morrisman, before crashing 5-1 at home to Met Bar, who also defeated Stafford Celtic 4-1 in a busy spell.

Current leaders FC Gnosall kept up their push with a 6-3 win over RC Morrisman.

In division four, champions Holmcroft Titans ran out 5-0 winners over Cross Keys.
