THIEVES stole thousands of pounds worth of tyres during an evening raid on a Penkridge business.

The thieves forced their way into an industrial unit on Lyne Hill Industrial Estate between 9.30pm and 10.30pm last night.

They stole between 60 and 100 tyres of various makes, to the value of around £15,000, Staffordshire Police said.

Investigating officer PC Gareth Jones said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who saw any vehicles acting suspiciously in the area.

"Due to the amount of tyres taken it is likely the offenders used a van of some sort to transport them and they were at the scene for considerable time loading the tyres up.

"If you saw anything suspicious last night, or you're offered tyres for sale at a knockdown price, please contact me on 101, quoting incident number 93 of February 28. Alternatively, you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
