TIME is running out for a Stafford business which needs to find a new parking place for up to 100 cars.
Vauxhall Vision, in Milford Road, have had a short-term lease on land owned by developers St Modwen who have applied for planning permission to build houses on it.
The lease runs out at the end of this month (DEC) and renewal negotiations have been put on hold pending the outcome of the planning application which goes before planners tonight(WED).
St Modwen say they have been trying to help the garage find land but the garage owners say the developer has made no attempt to help them.
In a letter to council planners Christopher Timothy, agent for St Modwen, said: “Discussions have taken place between Vision Vauxhall and St Modwen. Vision continue to require additional land for the parking of vehicles and have indicated that they are keen to work with St Modwen to try and find a solution.”
Baswich Parish Council has objected to the plans saying they are concerned about the lack of a parking facility for the garage. The county highways department have also objected because the land has been identified for the building of the Stafford eastern distributor road.
Some along with 13 residents who say the land has never been developed.
The application was earmarked for approval subject to a financial contribution of £73,333 for school places.
