THE spirit of Christmas is alive and well in Stafford and Stone as the festive season highlights the overwhelming generosity of townsfolk and news that lives can be changed.

Kind-hearted Newsletter readers have deluged us with donations for our 2013 Christmas appeal for Staffordshire Women's Aid, leaving charity staffoverwhelmed.

Christmas also came early for little Callum McCabe, who has been diagnosed with diabetes after being ill for some time. Generous staff at the Gatehouse Theatre arranged for him to see the Sleeping Beauty panto and meet the cast afterwards.

And a homeless dad who previously slept on the streets after losing his home following a break-up, is re-building his life with a roof over his head and a job in customer services.

His achievement is partly due to Stafford Borough Council's Landlord Incentive Scheme, which offered a package of support including pairing him up with a landlord.
