STONE truck race driver Dave Jenkins heads for the Pembrey circuit this weekend determined to make a big push to close the points gap at the top of the leader board for the British Truck Racing Championship.
The 1.4 mile South Wales track plays host to the penultimate round of this year’s championship on October 19 and 20.
Jenkins and the Digraph Transport Supplies sponsored Jenkins Motorsport team currently sit in second place in the race for the driver’s title, 29 points behind championship leader, Mat Summerfield.
However, Jenkins remains focussed on closing that points gap and believes his performance in South Wales, during the opening event for the 2013 season, can be improved upon to boost that effort.
Back in April, in those first five races, Jenkins recorded two second place finishes, two thirds and a fourth. Crucially, he also led the field at some point in four of the five races but could not hold out to the chequered flag.
Since then the performance of his “MAN” in black truck has improved consistently gathering up the points to put Jenkins into position for a real challenge for the title.
Dave said: “At this stage last season I was lying third in the title race and 46 points behind Mat Summerfield. This time I’m right behind him with less than 30 points difference and ten races to go.
For the 2013 Delphi British Truck Racing Championship season the Jenkins Motorsport team are supported by Digraph Transport Supplies, ATE Truck and Trailer Sales, Morris Lubricants, Alcoa Wheel, Tyre Tracks and MAN.
