CARING Stafford students have shown their support for Russia’s gay community with a video message.
When Stafford College’s film and media students learned of the persecution of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community they were determined to speak out.
They have created a video to share across the globe, with messages of hope and support for those who feel under attack because of their sexuality.
Lecturer David Hastings said: “If we can get the message to at least one LGBT person who needs to know the rest of the world supports them, then that is one person more than yesterday.”
Russia’s controversial laws on homosexuality have been under the spotlight as the Winter Olympics, currently being held in the Russian resort Sochi, move into their second week.
Gay rights activists held a day of protests against the Russian government last week and in the UK TV station Channel 4 has shown its support for LGBT athletes with a song and video entitled Gay Mountain.
